No one can deny that Software as a Service (SaaS) is becoming mainstream and in high demand. Banks, Government, Private Companies etc are all adopting SaaS in some form or another. The question is this .. Is this the way to go?
Business today is demanding a lot more from IT. They require speed of adaptability to business needs, they need mobility, they need analytics, they need to leverage social media and they want it YESTERDAY!
SaaS provides exactly that and has pushed Service Providers to take a step further. They need to provide beautiful looking solutions that are easy to use as their facebook and that can be deployed very quickly with enhancements happening very quickly. Customers no longer are willing to wait for years to get new features, it is down to months.
Further, customers want to reduce the cost of IT. SaaS does that as it is subscription based (a pay as you go sort of concept) and the beauty is that it provides customers, inherently, with the best in terms of hardware and security, which customers would need to pay huge sums of money to reach a fraction of that efficiency and security.
So do you SaaS or not? Why wouldn’t you? Who can justify paying a lot more to own something that can deliver a small portion of what SaaS can do? Who wants to pay more to get less?!?!?!
